Shanghai, China – At the Shanghai Yanjiang Passage (Pudong Section, Bid 6)—a key municipal project—the final segment of the L400-L403 Continuous Composite Beam was precisely positioned. Shanghai Tengfa's 650-ton crawler crane served as the primary lifter, utilizing a 66-meter boom with superlift configuration to successfully complete the lifting of 11 viaduct segments. The heaviest segment weighed 270 tons and measured 45 meters in length and 8 meters in width.

Challenge 1: Weak Soil Foundation
The primary challenge at the outset was the unstable ground. The lifting area was located beside a lake, where the bearing capacity of the foundation could not meet the requirements for the heavy lift. The operator from Shanghai Tengfa actively coordinated with the client. The project team implemented two different ground treatment solutions to effectively reinforce the soil, ensuring the stability and safety of the crane during operations.
Challenge 2: Extreme Spatial Constraints
The second major hurdle was the severely confined workspace. Constrained by the lake on one side, bridge steel columns on the other, and surrounded by trees, the available slewing radius for the equipment was critically insufficient. The Shanghai Tengfa team proactively coordinated with the project department to remove obstructive trees and optimize the site layout. Through meticulous operational planning and flexible equipment scheduling, they overcame the spatial limitations and successfully completed all lifting tasks.
Every segment lift was not only a test of equipment performance but also a comprehensive challenge for operational skill and team coordination. Shanghai Tengfa ensured that all lifting procedures were completed safely, efficiently, and precisely, providing critical support for the construction of the Yanjiang Passage (Pudong Section).
